There are many Arabic phrases used in Islam that a new convert needs to get used to. Please see below a list of such phrases for your reference.
HERE IS SOME ARABIC TERMS MEANINGS AND WHEN TO USE " Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem" In the Name of Allah (swt), the Compassionate, the Merciful When starting to do something
"Insha'Allah" If Allah (swt) Wills When mentioning something that will be done in the future
"Subhan'Allah" Glory to Allah (swt) When praising something "Alhamdulillah" Praise be to Allah (swt) When happy (or sad) about something, & on sneezing
"Yarhamuk'Allah" Allah (swt) have mercy upon you When someone says 'alhumdulillah' after sneezing "Ya Allah" Oh Allah (swt) In times of distress "Masha'Allah" As Allah (swt) Willed When appreciating something
"Jazak'Allah" May Allah(swt) reward you When thanking someone
"Naa'uthubillah" Allah(swt) protect us When you see/hear something bad
"Astaghfirullah" Allah(swt) forgive When saying sorry to Allah(swt) for a sin
"Assalamu alaikum" Peace be upon you When greeting someone
"Wa Alaykum Assalam" And upon you be peace When returning a greeting
"Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhirajioon" To Allah(swt) we belong and to Him we return On hearing of a death or tragedy
"Fee sabi'lillah" In Allah's(swt) faith When giving to charity
"Allahuakbar" Allah (swt) is Greater On hearing/seeing something good, or at anytime | |
